Failing miserably

Wow, this blog thing isn't really going as well as I had planned.  I decided I will do it when I can and not put pressure on myself.  It is a fun place to put down my thoughts but I want it to remain that way - fun.

I contemplated doing a post on a stain remover that has really gotten me excited these days, but I'll save that for another time.  Yes, I am a mother of a nine month old and I get excited about awesome stain fighting products.

Today, however, I want to talk about Michelle Williams at the Golden Globes.  I do not do award shows and never will but occasionally I like to read one of the trash mags to get a peek at the dresses.  Yesterday I happened across a photo of Michelle Williams and WOWZA, her hair is amazing.  I do not think I could pull it off with my bone structure but it is so striking and beautiful.  I also love that it is totally against the trend these days of having the longest hair possible.  Just gorgeous.

To Chalk or Not to Chalk...

You know those women that are stylish and make it seem completely effortless?  I have a casual acquaintance who fits this description and her home is as equally chic as she is.  The house was built in the forties with older appliances that could stand to be replaced.  Rather than buying a new fridge, she breathed new life into her old one by covering it in chalkboard paint.  Now it is a canvas for shopping lists, love notes and her little girl's doodles.  I have been contemplating doing the same to our fridge as it is a bit dated but am not sure if I can take the plunge.  What would you do?

Isn't this kitchen amazing?  I would hope my fridge would have some semblance to this one.

Bathroom Redo

Ah, the joys of being a homeowner.  During my weekend cleaning frenzy this afternoon, I discovered that the 80's linoleum in our main bathroom was a bit warped and looked waterlogged.  After peeling up a corner to further inspect, it looks like the toilet has been leaking for who knows how long and the flooring is dunzo.  So, we are going to need to replace it and are going to attempt a complete overhaul DIY style.  Wish me and the hubby luck as this should get interesting.  Here is some inspiration for our bathroom redo that will hopefully be commencing this coming weekend!

Cupcakes Galore

My sweet baby girl, Marin, will be turning one in March and I am just beginning to plan her first birthday party.  For Christmas her great aunt got her these cute little seersucker longalls.  Aren't they just about the sweetest thing you've ever seen?  I am currently putting together a little inspiration board on Pinterest.  I am thinking handmade garlands and party hats, rainbow sprinkles and striped paper straws.  More to come soon!

In the Navy

I have this obsession with navy blue. Our duvet cover is navy and although it is a magnet for our dog's hair, I love it. For Christmas I was gifted these lovely striped sheets from West Elm that I have been coveting for months. Now I finally have a reason to begin decorating our master. It has only been, oh, 17 months since we bought this house. I think it is high time something was done with it rather than having it be overtaken by piles of laundry, books and abandoned baby items.

$99.99

Navy is such a classic, crisp color, don't you think? Oh boy, and give me anything with stripes and I swoon. I am thinking I want to accent the room with vintage maps, a wire hamper and vintage suitcases repurposed into nightstands. Now, to get the motivation to make this little idea of mine actually come to fruition...

If we had room I would also set up a little reading nook with these babies. I have been eyeing them for months now and the price is amazing!

Oh, and maybe throw in this bed frame I have been dying over. Another great buy and surprisingly sturdy given the source.
